Strip: Neurodiversity is my superpower!
Neurodiversity is often seen as a negative thing, a disability. However these people do have other talents. This strip we have generated to highlight the positive sides of a neurodiverse brain, to show their superpower!
Dyslexia & Dyscalculia
The first strip is about Levi, he has dyscalculia.
With dyscalculia the brain has trouble with numbers.
With Dyslexia the brain has trouble with language.
Because of the struggles with these general parts of the learning curriculum they tend to be in a disadvantage in comparison with the rest of the class. However, they can come up with ways to understand the material that the neurotypical brain will never be able to. Just like Levi shows, it is their superpower.
ADD
The second strip is about Skye, she has ADD.
ADD stands for Attention Defect Disorder.
It is a type of ADHD without hyperactivity. People with ADD may seem calm on the outside, but inside their minds are full of constant thoughts, daydreams, and ideas.
It can make focusing, organizing, or starting tasks a real challenge.
However it also comes with creativity, flexibility, curiosity, and deep focus when something truly matters, it is their superpower.
